The best way to get to know someone is to spend time with them.
CEOs of top organizations have check-in meetings with their executives and employees on a regular basis. They meet weekly, biweekly or monthly. The reason for this is to build solid relationships with their team and when you have built solid relationships you will always have your hand on the pulse of your organization.
Consider date night your check-in.
Who are you checking in with? Who are you building a building a relationship with. You will fall in one of three categories
If you’re single, you’re building a relationship with yourself. Getting to really know your organization.
If you’re Single and Dating, you’re building a relationship with your “candidate”.
If you are Married you’re building a relationship with you “principles”.
Date night is a designated time you set aside, with a result in mind. Best believe CEOs have an agenda when they have check-ins. They start with a result in mind. When you start with the result in mind you will operate from that intention. CEOs of top organizations are always operating with an intention.
What is your intention when you go out on a date?
Here are a couple intentions to start with:
- To Love, of course I would say that we are Love CEOs right?
- To Build on the existing relationship. You should leave that date knowing more about your person than when you first arrived. Master the art of the conversation.
Note To Self: Leave your baggage at the door. Check your emotional intelligence. Can you imagine a CEO walking into a meeting talking about what the competition did or how horrible the stock market is?
